Moonlight Sonata

Tranquil night
Crickets and owls making the noises they will
Limbs and leaves wavering gently in the breeze, where
The footsteps of a lightning bug go unheard
Though he does not go unnoticed
As he floats branch to branch
In and out of existence, it seems
Disturbing the night with a brightness
That disguises his size
Breaking up the peacefulness of
The darkness
His light somehow more in violation of tranquility
Than the noises all around him
Yet somehow I am not disturbed
Instead I find relaxation
Within the combination
Of his flickering light, with
The rhythmic cricket’s chirping, and
The mellow hoot of the owl
Nature’s orchestra
Being conducted by the moon.
