Waiting By the Phone

I know sometime
She’ll go her own way
And I’ll sit wishing
To live again a day
That I didn’t spend with her

I know that time
Will soon enough bring
A day I’ll spend wishing
For the phone to ring
So I can talk to her

I know too soon
She’ll walk the aisle
And I’ll hide my tears
Beneath my smile
While wishing she’d come home

I know it doesn’t
Though it seems to be such
That losing her to life
Hurts equally as much
As losing her to death
